Your passage to India

The Diamond…

The Koh-i-Noor is probably the best known of diamond gems. There is a tradition that it was taken in 1304 from a Rajah at Malawa, whose family had held it for centuries. It is believed to have been guarded with other treasures at Delhi until 1739, when Nadir Shah of Persia carried it off. After further adventures the diamond was surrendered to the East India Company, whose directors presented it to Queen Victoria of England. It was a badly cut diamond that lacked brilliance, but it weighted 191 carats. Queen Victoria had it recut by Garrards of London in 1852, and now weights 109 carats. It is among the English Crown Jewels.

The Ambience…

Ambience is an intangible word, very often spoken in the same breath as character or feeling. Although almost impossible to quantity or define in objective terms, it is readily sensed phenomenon. At the Koh-i-Noor, we have attempted to create a relaxing stage on which the main actors, the food, can be appreciated to the full. We hope Koh-i-Noor is everything you wish your favourite restaurant to be.
